SafeNet Announces Erie County's First Trail Run

ERIE - SafeNet will host its first 5K Boo Run: Save our Soles from Domestic Violence on Halloween, Sunday, October 31st 2010 on the trials at Presque Isle State Park.

Registration and the trail route will be announced soon.

Trail races are primarily along footpaths and bridle paths and nature trails. Trail races differ considerably from other races, since runners and walkers enjoy the solitude of nature for the bulk of these runs. Similarly, runners and walkers in these events must rely on their own inner resolve, since crowd support is very limited. Trail races are commonly equipped with aid stations supplying food and beverages at intervolves during the event.

The following categories will be awarded:

Top Finishers: First, Second and Third
Best Dressed Runner or Walker: First, Second and Third

According to Greg Hall, Chairman of the event, "The closest trail run is in Allegheny County, so we hope to attract runners and walkers from across the region." Hall indicated that, "trail runs are growing across the United States and this type of event is the first of its kind in Erie County." Because of the uniqueness of this event, there will be a preview of the trail route in mid October for runners and walkers that have registered SafeNet has partnered with Presque State Park, the Erie Runners Club, JET TV and FOX66.
