SafeNet Gears Up for 4th Annual Poker Run

ERIE - SafeNet's 4th Annual Poker Run - Ride to End Domestic Violence will be held Sunday, June 27, 2010. Registration begins at 10:00 am until noon at the SafeNet Center, 1702 French Street. This year's stops include: Hunter Jack's Bar and Grill in Girard, Creekside Bar and Grille in Waterford, Fatboy's Saloon in Conneautville, Kim's Townhouse in Union City and the last bike in at 4:00 pm at Coconut Joe's at North Park Row in downtown Erie. The cost is $15 per person and $25 per couple and includes food and beverages, as well as chances to win prizes and giveaways. Music will be provided by Rick and the Roadhouse Rockers, a band said to be "one of the boldest, most energetic rockin' blues bands on the scene," from 2-6 pm. A "poker run" is an organized event where participants, usually on motorcycles, must visit five to seven checkpoints, drawing a playing card at each one. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run.

Prizes for the Poker Run include a Harley-Davidson raffle basket that contains a $50 gift card from Harley-Davidson of Erie, Inc., $100, $75 and $50 Poker Hand prizes for the top three hands, a grand prize gift certificate from Northcoast Powersports for a set of motorcycle tires and installation valued up to $500 and other various prizes and giveaways.

Sponsors for this year's Poker Run are Northcoast Powersports, Erie's Classic Rock Z-102.3 FM, Citadel Broadcasting, ESPN Radio and Classy 100 99.9 FM.
