Block Party to Benefit SafeNet

SafeNet and Scully's Pub will partner again for the 3rd year in a row with a Downtown block party. The block party will be held at Scully's Pub at 5th and State Streets this Thursday, August 12th 2010, beginning at 5:00pm.

Back by poplar demand is SafeNet's "Hole in One" contest. Using a putting green, you can take a chance on a 32" HDTV television. Every "hole in one" made will register the player for a chance to win this incredible television, there will also be chances for 50/50 prizes. Because of the popularity of the game SafeNet has added a second putting green. Also helping out this year at the event will be Kelly Donlin, Miss Roar on the Shore. SafeNet was the charity of the 2010 Roar on the Shore that was held in mid-July.

Last year SafeNet raised $3,100.00, which was the largest amount raised at any block party, we hope to do as well this year. The block party start at 5pm in front of Scully's Pub and will end at 11pm.

SafeNet is not a homeless shelter, but a safe and confidential place specifically for men, women and children who are victims of domestic violence.  From every city and township in the area, victims come to SafeNet seeking support, safety and shelter from physical abuse and threats of violence occurring at home.  After 35 years of providing shelter and many other supportive services, SafeNet knows first-hand that there is hope and there is help. SafeNet is Pennsylvania's oldest continuous running domestic violence shelter and the 5th oldest in the United States.
