2017 Annual Fund

Dear Friends,

It’s the middle of the night. The police have arrived. The mother and child need to be removed from this home as it is no longer safe for them to live there. But where do they go?\

Since 1974 the answer has been SafeNet. Offering comprehensive services for victims of domestic violence, SafeNet provides free and confidential housing, counseling, services for children, legal services, and a medical program which provides a 24-hour response to victims arriving at local hospitals.

With

  • one in 4 women experiencing domestic violence in their lifetime and
  • children who witness domestic violence being 75% more likely to become an abuser or partner with an abuser and
  • over 30% of abusers will also abuse children in the household\

SafeNet services are needed now more than ever.

You can be part of our team providing for the safety and comprehensive services needed by those mothers and children who come to SafeNet by giving to SafeNet’s Annual Fund.

You can choose to make your gift as part of a larger giving program or make an independent gift.\

  • Be part of “Giving Tuesday” by making your donation either by check or on SafeNet’s website by November 28, 2017.   The name “Giving Tuesday” has been given for the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to remind donors that after “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday,” they can donate to their favorite nonprofits.
  • Donate to SafeNet (ERIE) through Newman’s Own Foundation $500,000 Holiday Challenge. Paul Newman’s charity is celebrating 35 years of giving by helping nonprofits fundraise with a contest to earn half a million dollars of grant money. Go to www.crowdrise.com/newmansownholidaychallenge and make a gift. It’s simple.  As Paul Newman would say, “giving back is just the right thing to do”. Make sure you choose SafeNet in Erie, PA.
  • Give directly to SafeNet’s Annual Fund either with an unrestricted gift or a gift to help one of our programs. Maybe consider a monthly gift this year. Just $20/month can support a child in the children’s program for one year. You can choose to make a monthly gift online at www.safeneterie.org and be automatically billed monthly or call 814-455-1774 x 227 and our staff will handle this for you.

As we enter our season of giving thanks, I ask that you consider a single or monthly gift to help us sustain our programs of providing emergency and comprehensive services when they’re needed most. As always, we look to the generous members of the Erie Community to help us make a difference in the lives of mothers and children.

With appreciation,

Linda Lyons King
